Triveni Sangam — Where Three Rivers Unite

Prayagraj (formerly Allahabad) is home to one of the most sacred sites in all of Hinduism — the Triveni Sangam. This is the point where the blue-green waters of the Ganges and the dark waters of the Yamuna visibly merge, while the mythical Saraswati River is said to flow underground and join them here. What to Do at the Sangam

• Holy Dip: Taking a dip at the Sangam is believed to wash away all sins and break the cycle of rebirth. It holds special significance on every Amavasya (new moon) and during Makar Sankranti.
• Boat Ride: For Rs 100–300, hire a rowboat and witness the merging of the two rivers up close. The boatmen will show you the exact point where the colours change — a must-do experience.
• Evening Aarti: A peaceful aarti is held on the ghat every evening — a calm and spiritually uplifting experience.
• Allahabad Fort: Adjacent to the Sangam, the Allahabad Fort (built by Emperor Akbar) houses the ancient Patalpuri Temple and the sacred Ashoka Pillar.

The Kumbh Mela Connection

Prayagraj hosts the world-famous Kumbh Mela — the largest human gathering on Earth. The 2025 Maha Kumbh attracted an estimated 400 million visitors over 45 days. How to Reach from Varanasi

Prayagraj is just 120 km from Varanasi — approximately 2.5–3 hours by road via NH19. Frequent trains also connect the two cities in 1.5–2 hours.
